Gymnastics Instructors

Wendy Hewitt

I have always had a love for all sports and gymnastics was no exception! I would spend hours at the gym practicing and was glued to the TV during the Olympics. I competed when I was much younger and then went on to help coach. Then I had a daughter of my own who also fell in love with the sport. She went on to also be a competative gymnast which left me deeply enchrenched in the sport. She would practice constantly and I was right there helping her along the way. In her High School years she naturally landed a spot on the Varsity Cheerleading Squad where I taught the team how to tumble, handspring, and flip their way to a State Championship Title. Parents of our martial arts school have begged me for years to start a program...and here we are! We have already seen so much improvement and growth in our current students and I couldn't be happier!

I never realized how much I missed this sport and how much I missed teaching it until I was asked to be an instructor here at MWAMA. From the ages of 10 to 13 I practiced recreational gymnastics and I had a blast doing it. Fast forward five years and I found myself coaching until I was 20 and that's when I moved to Medford from my hometown of Fortuna, Ca. Now, eight years later I'm a mother of two beautiful girls, coaching a truly incredible sport and hopefully inspiring my students to work hard, dream big and strive to be the best version of themselves that they can!

All martial arts training should only be used to better ones self and as a path to higher understanding of ones self.  Martial arts should never be used with the intention of purposely seeking to cause harm to others.
